28th September 2017
The Institute of Physics visited the school to deliver a lecture on planetary astronomy. Astronomers today believe that more than half of the stars in the sky have planets orbiting around them. Students learned about planets 10 times the mass of Jupiter, planets so hot that their atmospheres rain glass, and planets with three stars. During the fun, interesting talk, students were shown how their physics lessons at school are a building block towards understanding the world around us. They received an insight into the life of a university researcher and a unique opportunity to ask a physics researcher about their career.
