On Friday 17th May, Dr Doris Fink, a STEM Ambassador, delivered a STEM careers workshop to all Year 10 students.
The interactive presentation focused on showing students how much of everyday life has links with STEM and how many career opportunities there are.
The students completed a STEM true or false quiz to address misconceptions. They then filled in an individual tick list of their own characteristics and personality traits to discover their preferred ways of working and their own personal aptitudes. Each student could then highlight the type of person they are and, therefore, which career paths would best suit them.
A wide range of careers were discussed to highlight the multitude of opportunities that are open to them. Information was shared about different career paths and further education.
The session was extremely informative and thought-provoking, sparking even greater interest in how STEM could provide future career opportunities.
