Culture Camp – Awards Ceremony.

Kati and Kayleigh in year 11 spent 5 days involved in the art project Culture Camp which has previously been celebrated in the newsletter. Culture Camp was organised by The St Ives School of Painting who have made links with Leech Pottery and the Tate for workshops that took place over the week. Kati and Kayleigh were able to explore painting, ceramics, recording ideas on the beach and also work in Porthmeor studios.

Both students recently received their Bronze Arts awards at the awards ceremony held in the evening at Porthmeor Studios. We wanted to congratulate Kayleigh and Kati on their hard work during their holiday and also for meeting all of the awards criteria.

Kati shared her feelings about the project:

‘I had a really good experience working with the St Ives school of painting, the Tate and Leech Pottery at half term. My favourite time was working in Leech Pottery modelling and firing work. It was also interesting seeing all of the old chambers that they use to fire work in. I’m exciting to get my Bronze Arts award’ Kati

Our DT Teacher Mrs Treloar has been busy during lockdown volunteering with Cornwall Scrubs. Mrs Treloar has been doing the amazing work of making them scrubs that will be used in the local hospitals and hospices to help with PPE. What a fantastic thing to do  Thank you Mrs Treloar!!
