Hayle Academy takes its responsibilities for enabling young people to move onto the next phase of their life very seriously. Our special programme, Post 16 – Moving On, helps students move on from our academy into tertiary education, employment or training. It includes visits from external professionals, potential employers, visits to colleges, interview and application form training, work experience and career advice from an independent Personnel Adviser.
A student in our Year 11 is at a key decision point in their life, we help them to understand and evaluate the breadth of opportunities that are available to them and to access the support that will help them relate these to their own capacities and their own aims for the future. Our aim is to provide young people with impartial advice and guidance on all the opportunities available to them as young people.
We are proud of the fact that our programme is successful and of our very strong commitment to ensuring that all students move on to a positive experience and are not identified as NEET ie not in employment, education or training.
Hayle Academy joined Truro and Penwith Academy Trust (TPAT) on 1st November 2017. Academies form an integral part of the Government’s education policy to raise attainment for all children. We are delighted with the benefits academy status will bring Hayle Academy and we now have the opportunity to use the freedoms and flexibilities of academy status to share best practice and work with others to bring about sustained improvements. The Trust currently oversees a mixture of primary and secondary schools across Cornwall.
