As I reflect on my time at Hayle Academy, I am delighted to say that the school is on a good journey. We have a talented team in school who work hard to support students in assisting them to fulfil their potential.

At our open evening last week there was no doubt that our mantra ‘Proud to be Hayle’ was evident from both staff and students, and that is how I feel. During my 3 years as Headteacher, and 4 years prior to that as Deputy, it has been an enjoyable time.

There have been exciting developments in many aspects of the school and continues to move forward positively, academically, in sporting achievements and within the performing arts. I am sure this journey will continue under Mr Mather. This newsletter continues to show the compassion, positive attitude and dedication of our students.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank students, staff, parents and the Governors for their support and friendship. It has been a great privilege to have had this opportunity. I wish you all the very best for the future and will be proud to see the school go from strength to strength.

We are well into the flow of the GCSE exams and the resilience being shown is a credit to the students.

As I write this, they have just completed a 2 ¼ hour English Literature exam having already undertaken maths, geography, physics and Spanish exams this week. These continue after half term for a further two weeks.
