Become who you want to be…
School isn’t just about what you learn. It’s about who you learn to be.
That’s why at Hayle Academy, students are encouraged to try new things, develop confidence, and build resilience. And they do it within our friendly and encouraging community.
Every child comes to us full of promise. Our aim is that when they leave, they are independent thinkers with the skills and self-belief to achieve it.
That’s why we’re rated as the 8th-best school in Cornwall for academic progress (2022).
“Hayle is a calm and welcoming place.
Pupils say they feel safe. Pupils know staff care about them. They enjoy coming to
school.

OFSTED 2022
We’ve seen first-hand how ambition helps people
reach new heights
We’re leading the way with trailblazing programs.
Here are just some of the areas where we’ve been leading the way for students’ success…
In science…
What can you expect from your science lessons? Discovery, wonder and fun.
That’s why our science department is recognised as being one of the best. We’re leading the secondary science hub for schools across Cornwall and beyond.
In music…
Many of our students love making music. Over 20% of students choose to nurture their musical talent through singing and learning instruments.
And because we go the extra mile for music, we’re the only school in Cornwall to have been awarded the prestigious music mark.
And did we mention that last year, our students performed at BoardMasters?!
In health and well-being
Life is tough for us all sometimes. 1 in 6 children in the UK struggles with their social, emotional or mental health. We’re always finding new ways to help.
Because of our caring approach, we’ve been chosen to partner with the University of Oxford in the £24m Attune project dedicated to helping improve the mental health of students who have suffered adverse childhood experiences.
Don’t take our word for it. Take theirs…
Here’s what our current students and parents say about Hayle Academy…
Meet James:
Opened opportunities
“Before joining Hayle, I hadn’t had the chance to do any cooking or catering at my primary school. Now I get many chances and even took part in a cooking challenge – I could be the next Gordon Ramsey! Secondary school has opened so many chances for me. ”

Meet Alesha:
Learning so much
“Before I joined Hayle Academy I didn’t feel I was learning very much, but now I think I am gaining new knowledge every day..”
A Pupil
Year 7
Meet Zak:
Heading
“I felt a bit nervous about joining Hayle due to having to meet new people and having to study new subjects, but mostly, I was excited. I knew there was going to be loads of new opportunities to do new things, make new friends and experience new chances. It was so easy! Everyone was so supportive from the very first day. “
