Become who you want to be…
School isn’t just about what you learn. It’s about who you learn to be.
That’s why at Hayle Academy, students are encouraged to try new things, develop confidence, and build resilience. And they do it within our friendly and encouraging community.
Every child comes to us full of promise. Our aim is that when they leave, they are independent thinkers with the skills and self-belief to achieve it.
That’s why we’re rated as the 8th-best school in Cornwall for academic progress (2022).
TPAT Advantage Project
We are delighted to be part of the TPAT Advantage programme. The aim of this is to give our teachers and pupils the very best digital tools available to support them in their work and in their learning. Staff and pupils will benefit from having access to the latest iPad devices which will enable them to access bespoke applications designed to support their learning both in the classroom and at home.
This video shares our journey as part of a Sync case study.
“Hayle is a calm and welcoming place.
Pupils say they feel safe. Pupils know staff care about them. They enjoy coming to
school.
Leaders have high expectations of pupils.”
OFSTED 2022
We are delighted to announce that Hayle Academy has successfully achieved the National Wellbeing Gold Award in recognition and celebration of our participation in the ‘Raising Attainment with Wellbeing Programme: putting wellbeing at the heart of learning, teaching and leadership’. This award recognises the tremendous hard work that our school invests in wellbeing because we believe that wellbeing should underpin everything that we do.
We are very excited to be starting a project with NRICH on developing our approach to problem solving in maths and across the school. The NRICH project aims to enrich the mathematical experiences of all learners and promotes the ethos that mathematical ability is not fixed: everyone can learn and make progress!
We’ve seen first-hand how ambition helps people
reach new heights
We’re leading the way with trailblazing programs.
Here are just some of the areas where we’ve been leading the way for students’ success…
In science…
What can you expect from your science lessons? Discovery, wonder and fun.
That’s why our science department is recognised as being one of the best.
In music…
Many of our students love making music. Over 20% of students choose to nurture their musical talent through singing and learning instruments.
And because we go the extra mile for music, we’re the only school in Cornwall to have been awarded the prestigious music mark.
And did we mention that last year, our students performed at BoardMasters?!
In health and well-being
Life is tough for us all sometimes. 1 in 6 children in the UK struggles with their social, emotional or mental health. We’re always finding new ways to help.
Because of our caring approach, we’ve been chosen to partner with the University of Oxford in the £24m Attune project dedicated to helping improve the mental health of students who have suffered adverse childhood experiences.
Don’t take our word for it. Take theirs…
Here’s what our current students say about Hayle Academy…
Meet Belle:
Academic Challenge
At Hayle Academy, I am really challenged in my GCSE subjects and making a path for my continued academic studies. I would like to go on to study A Levels in Psychology, Biology and Mathematics and I feel that my time at Hayle is preparing me for the next challenge and creating opportunities for the future.

Meet Keira:
Aiming High
My teachers encourage me to aim high and are always there to support me. They know how to get me to the next level, and give me strategies for effective learning. In the future, I am planning on going to college and university to study for a career in science. Who knows, I might even return to Hayle Academy as a science teacher in the future so that I can inspire the next generation!

Meet Luke:
Personal Development
I would recommend D of E Silver as being pushed to your physical, emotional and mental limits is something you’ll never regret. Even the blisters on expedition were worth it. I felt physically sick having to meet new people for my skills section but it was all fine and the knowledge I gained is priceless.
