Hard Work and Determination Rewarded for Hayle Academy’s Class of 2026

Many congratulations to our fantastic Class of 2026, who received their eagerly anticipated GCSE results this morning. There was a real atmosphere of celebration across the academy as students collected their results, with plenty of smiles from students, families and staff as they came together to mark this important milestone. It was wonderful to see our students celebrating their achievements alongside friends, families and staff as they reflected on the culmination of years of dedication, resilience and hard work. We are immensely proud of every student and all they have accomplished throughout their time at Hayle Academy.

Among the many success stories this year were a number of outstanding individual performances, demonstrating the breadth of talent, determination and commitment within the cohort. Notable achievements included Greta, who secured three Grade 9s, six Grade 8s and one Grade 7; Tru, who achieved four Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, three Grade 7s and one Grade 6; Rosie, whose results included four Grade 9s and three Grade 6s; Jamie, whose results included two Grade 9s, three Grade 8s, three Grade 7s, one Grade 6 and a Level 2 Distinction*; Sophia, whose results included three Grade 8s, three Grade 7s, and three Grade 6s; Dylan, whose results included three Grade 8s, one Grade 7, and a Level 2 Distinction; and Solas, whose results included two Grade 8s, two Grade 7s, five Grade 6s and a Level 2 Distinction. We congratulate each and every student on their achievements and thank them for the positive contribution they have made to school life during their time at Hayle Academy.

Head of School, Melissa Lock, shared:

“We are all incredibly proud of our students for their individual successes, their hard work and their commitment to learning. It was such a pleasure to celebrate with them today and to see the rewards of their dedication reflected in these results.

Whilst their qualifications provide a strong foundation for future success, our students leave Hayle Academy with so much more than examination results. They have developed the skills, knowledge, confidence and resilience needed to thrive as they move on to the next exciting chapter of their educational journey.

The Class of 2026 has left a rich and lasting legacy within our school community. They have demonstrated kindness, ambition and determination, and they will be greatly missed. We wish every one of them continued success and happiness in the future.”

Deputy Headteacher, Nick Croker, added:

“The Class of 2026 has been a fantastic cohort and one that has left a lasting mark on Hayle Academy. Throughout their journey, they have demonstrated resilience, teamwork and determination, consistently supporting one another and embracing every opportunity that came their way.

In sport, we often talk about finishing strongly and giving your all right through to the final whistle. This cohort has done exactly that. They should be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved, not just in their examination results, but in the way they have grown as young people and contributed to our school community.

We look forward to seeing them continue to succeed as they move on to the next stage of their journey.”

At the highest grades, students achieved an impressive 14 Grade 9s, 26 Grade 8s and 45 Grade 7s, alongside 4 Level 2 Distinction* awards and 25 Level 2 Distinctions, a fantastic achievement within a cohort of 110 students. These outcomes are testament to the determination and resilience of our students, the support of their families and the dedication of the entire Hayle Academy staff team. They reflect the strength of the curriculum, high quality teaching and learning, and a shared commitment to ensuring every student achieves their very best.

Particularly pleasing this year has been the continued improvement in outcomes in GCSE Mathematics at Grade 5 and above and in Basics 5+ (English and Mathematics), reflecting the academy’s sustained focus on ensuring that every student is equipped with the essential qualifications needed for future success. These achievements demonstrate the determination of students, the expertise of staff and the effectiveness of the targeted support provided throughout their secondary education.

There were also some exceptional subject performances across both academic and vocational qualifications. Students achieved particularly strong outcomes in Art, French, BTEC Sport and BTEC Music Technology, where creativity, dedication and perseverance were rewarded with excellent results. The Separate Sciences also continued to be a significant strength, with students securing impressive outcomes across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, showcasing both academic ambition and a commitment to excellence. These successes were complemented by sustained positive results in English Language, Geography and WJEC Hospitality and Catering, further highlighting the breadth of achievement and opportunity across the curriculum.

This year also marks an important milestone for Hayle Academy as we celebrate the achievements of the first Year 11 students from our Area Resource Base (ARB). We are incredibly proud of the progress they have made throughout Key Stage 4 and the qualifications and personal successes they have achieved. Their determination, resilience and growth embody the inclusive values of our school, and we look forward to seeing them flourish as they move confidently into their chosen post-16 pathways.

As our students now look ahead to colleges, sixth forms, apprenticeships and employment opportunities, we celebrate not only the qualifications they have achieved but also the confident, capable and ambitious young people they have become.

We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to following their future successes.

Well done, Class of 2026. We are proud of every one of you.
