Phenomenal Effort Rewarded for Students at Hayle Academy
Many congratulations to our fantastic Class of 2025 who received their eagerly anticipated GCSE results this morning. It was incredibly heartwarming to see our students celebrating with their friends, families and staff. We are immensely proud of all our students who worked exceptionally hard to achieve their qualifications: the culmination of their dedication, resilience and tremendous effort.
Amongst the many, many success stories, our top performers include Sophie whose results included one GCSE at Grade 9, two at Grade 8, three at Grade 7 and a Level 2 Distinction*; Megan whose results included two GCSEs at Grade 9, one at Grade 8 and three at Grade 7; Harrison, whose results included three GCSEs at Grade 8 and three at Grade 7; Ollie whose results included two GCSEs at Grade 8, four at Grade 7 and a Level 2 Distinction, and Grace whose results included two GCSEs at Grade 8 and two at Grade 7. We congratulate each and every student on their achievements.
Headteacher, Mrs Melissa Lock, shared, “We are all incredibly proud of our students for their individual successes, their hard work and commitment to learning. It was such a pleasure to join in their celebrations with them today – and there is much for them to celebrate.
Whilst their qualifications provide a strong platform to lead to their future success, our students have also developed the skills, knowledge and confidence to reach new heights as they now embark on the next exciting chapter of their educational journey.
You have each left Hayle Academy with a rich, lasting legacy. Really well done; you will be missed! We wish you every success for the future.”
At the highest grades, overall there were 16 grades 8 and 9 achieved, 43 at grade 7 with 5 level 2 Distinction* and 18 Level 2 Distinctions achieved, in what is relatively a small cohort of under 100 students. This is testament to the strength of the curriculum, teaching and learning in the school with many thanks to the dedication of the whole staff team.
There were also success stories for particular subjects, including GCSE Mathematics and GCSE Geography as almost 70% of students in these subjects achieved at least a Grade 4 (standard pass), and in GCSE Art as almost 90% of students achieved at least a Grade 4 (standard pass) and almost 70% a Grade 5 or above. In the Separate Sciences, 96% of students achieved at least a Grade 4 in Chemistry with over 93% in Biology and over 82% in Physics. There were also other success stories, such as for WJEC Hospitality and Catering with a 95% Level 2 Pass rate and over 65% of students achieved at least a Level 2 Merit.
