Local Monitoring Committee (LMC)

The Local Monitoring Committee (LMC) at Hayle Academy plays a key role in supporting the school’s leadership and ensuring accountability, excellence, and strong community links.

Hayle Academy is proud to be part of the Truro and Penwith Academy Trust. The Trust’s Board of Directors delegates certain responsibilities to the Academy’s Local Monitoring Committee, which acts as a critical friend to the school—providing both support and challenge to the Senior Leadership Team.

Committee members play a key role in monitoring and improving the quality of provision in the school, its relationship with stakeholders, and the safety and wellbeing of its students and staff.

Purpose and Role

The LMC works closely with the Trustees to ensure Hayle Academy delivers high-quality education and care. Its responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing academic progress and outcomes
  • Supporting safeguarding and student wellbeing
  • Overseeing Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision and inclusion
  • Ensuring statutory compliance and effective school policies
  • Strengthening relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community

The committee is made up of individuals with a strong commitment to the school and its values. They bring a range of professional and local perspectives to help Hayle Academy continue to grow and succeed.

Our Local Monitoring Committee consists of members drawn from the local community, parents, and staff. When a vacancy arises for a parent member, an election is held—and we warmly encourage parents to volunteer.
